Job Summary

As a team member in the MCS Game Design Department, you will contribute to games in a variety of ways, from designing systems and mechanics for game features to defining the game’s world and lore.

A game’s design is at the core of its experience. Game design not only encompasses the game’s basic functions, but also its standout features—the qualities that make it unique and memorable.

As a designer, you will take ownership over one or more aspects of a game’s design, bringing ideas from initial concepts to finalized game systems, maintaining related documentation along the way.

Functions/Responsibilities

  • Participate in conceptualizing game concepts
  • Designing systems and mechanics
  • Monthly Project Documentation Status Report
  • Balancing numerical values of systems
  • Writing game design documents or system design documents
  • Level design
  • Reviewing your work and the work of peers
  • Contributing to documents and tools to be used by other departments
  • Researching competitive/comparable games
  • Drafting test case sheets
  • Managing and maintaining documentation
  • Collaborating with team members from other departments
  • Maintaining timelines for projects
